Nickel!

This made us all smile like goofballs. The date is the really exciting part, as it suggests that (unless someone was carrying this around as a memento longer than a coin's normal circulation) that it belonged to a colony member. Now, people carry pockets full of change and drop money all the time, right? But what if you lived in a colony who had the philosophical goal of obliterating the cash economy and you couldn't exchange this nickel for anything for miles around?

You'd probably drop it on the ground and not even bother to pick it up.

I came here via Peter's blog.

I live in Tamuz - an Urban Kibbutz in Israel.

Will read back and follow your blog. Hope to find things from the past that can resonate with our current life.
